Amazonian Archaeology, Indigenous Communities, Long-Term History, Indigenous Archaeology, Digital Humanities in Archaeology, QGIS, Digital Archaeology Research Focus: My research focuses on the study of large earthwork sites, known as "geoglyphs" within the Amazon, and "zanjas" within the Andes. These monumental structures, constructed by Indigenous Amazonian communities, serve as critical windows into the social and political dynamics of these groups. By analyzing these sites, I aim to understand their functions and how Indigenous communities used them to construct their identities and territories, creating long-distance connections with other regions, particularly in the Andes. Through this exploration of earthwork structures and their associated sociocultural landscapes, my work seeks to uncover the long-term historical and territorial dynamics that shaped these complex societies. I utilize digital humanities tools, such as QGIS and ArcGIS, to map and analyze these connections, incorporating spatial and cultural data to bridge the Amazon and Andean regions. In addition to working extensively within Brazil, my research also expands into Bolivia. By combining spatial analysis with deep historical perspectives, my ultimate goal is to contribute to the demarcation of territories and the recognition of the long historical presence of Indigenous communities in the Amazonian and Andean regions of today. Through this work, I aim to support the ongoing efforts to protect these territories and affirm the enduring connections of these communities to their ancestral lands.
